Umahi: El-Rufai Will Play Major Role In Tinubu’s Administration

Umahi said Tinubu was one to reward loyalty, and because of that, he was sure that El-Rufai will play a major role in the country.

Senator-Elect and former governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, has said that the former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, will play a major role in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

In an interview with ARISE NEWS on Friday, after he was questioned on if Tinubu would distance himself from personalities who have made controversial statements in recent times, including El-Rufai, the senator-elect replied, “Mr President has not distanced himself from individuals that worked for him… The president has in his heart the federal character of the nation, and I believe strongly that he is a man that rewards faithfulness, he is a man that rewards diligence, he is a man that rewards honesty.

“So be assured that Mr. President is not going to leave out people like El-Rufai, and the rest of us that worked very hard for him. You can see his track record. He doesn’t betray anybody. So be very much assured that my good friend El-Rufai is going to play a major role.

“I’m not speaking for Mr. President, but I’m speaking bearing in mind the character of him I know too well.”

Umahi’s statement comes after El-Rufai was seen in a now viral video, saying that the Muslim-Muslim governorship ticket in the state of Kaduna will be sustained for the next 20 years, and that what they achieved in the state has now been replicated nationally, as the ruling party won the presidency with a Muslim-Muslim ticket.

In the speech which he gave in Hausa, El-Rufai stated that no liar will ever come out to play politics of Christianity and win election ever again, referencing that Peter Obi had tried and failed.
