Disney and Pixar’s ‘Toy Story 5’ has recorded more than 20 million views worldwide within its first five days on Disney+, strengthening the long-running franchise’s dominance on the streaming platform.

The animated film, directed by Andrew Stanton, began streaming on Disney+ on September 23 and has become one of the platform’s biggest movie launches.

Disney said the performance could make “Toy Story 5” the most-watched film on Disney+ during the period.

The film’s release builds on the success of the “Toy Story” franchise, which Disney describes as the most-watched film franchise on the platform, with more than 2 billion hours streamed globally.

The studio also said “Toy Story 5” contributed to renewed interest in the franchise after its teaser trailer release, generating 168 million additional hours of viewing across the previous films.

The latest instalment is among the top 10 theatrical film premieres on Disney+ worldwide, joining the first four “Toy Story” movies, which regularly rank among the platform’s top 20 films each year.

Disney’s figures also show strong streaming performances from other major animated releases.

“Zootopia 2”, which became the highest-grossing animated film in Motion Picture Association (MPA) history with $1.866 billion worldwide, recorded 32 million global views in its first seven days on Disney+ after arriving on the platform in March 2026.

Meanwhile, Pixar’s “Inside Out 2”, which grossed $1.698 billion worldwide, attracted 30.5 million views globally in its first five days on Disney+ in September 2024.

The “Toy Story” franchise has earned more than $4 billion at the global box office and continues to generate revenue through merchandise, theme parks and other ventures.

Disney said the franchise generates more than $1 billion annually in global retail sales and has contributed more than $50 billion in total economic impact over three decades.
