President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday returned to Abuja following the Eid-el-Kabir holiday in Lagos, where he participated in a series of political, governmental and diplomatic engagements.
The President arrived at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport aboard Nigeria Air Force One at about 5:17 p.m. and was received by senior government officials, including Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and Inspector-General of Police Tunji Disu.
During the holiday period, Tinubu hosted several delegations as part of the traditional Sallah homage, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and members of the Senate leadership.
He also received members of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum led by Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, as well as APC stakeholders from Oyo State and candidates who emerged from the party’s recent primaries.
The President’s stay in Lagos coincided with the conclusion of the All Progressives Congress primaries for the presidency, governorship, National Assembly and state Houses of Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Tinubu participated in the APC presidential primary and subsequently emerged as the party’s presidential candidate after securing widespread support from delegates and party members across the country.
On Monday, the President attended the International Fleet Review at the Eko Atlantic Waterfront as part of activities marking the Nigerian Navy’s 70th anniversary.
At the event, he inaugurated three naval vessels — NNS Oloibiri, NNS Mambila and NNS Gurara — and reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening maritime security and naval capabilities.
Tinubu also held talks with Benin Republic President Romuald Wadagni in Lagos, with discussions focused on regional cooperation, economic relations and bilateral ties between the two neighbouring countries.
The engagements formed part of a busy holiday schedule that combined official duties, political activities and national events during the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
