The THISDAY Alumni Association has celebrated THISDAY Newspapers’ 30th anniversary, commending its excellence, resilience, and groundbreaking journalism.

The THISDAY Alumni Association has congratulated THISDAY Newspapers on its 30th anniversary, lauding the publication’s outstanding achievements in journalism, innovation, and societal impact.

In a statement signed by the Association’s President, Dr Tony Onyima, the group commended Prince Nduka Obaigbena, alongside the Board, Management, and Staff of THISDAY, for their visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to excellence. The newspaper’s dedication has cemented its reputation as a symbol of integrity and innovation in the Nigerian media landscape.

“Over the past three decades, THISDAY has not only redefined the standards of journalism in Nigeria but has also become a beacon of hope, truth, and courage. It is a source of pride for those of us privileged to have contributed to this iconic institution, whose groundbreaking stories and bold front pages have shaped public discourse and influenced societal change,” the statement read.

The Alumni Association praised THISDAY’s resilience in overcoming challenges and its commitment to editorial independence, investigative depth, and impactful storytelling. It further acknowledged the efforts of past and present journalists, editors, designers, administrators, and technical staff whose contributions have driven the newspaper’s success.

“As THISDAY steps into its fourth decade, we are confident it will continue to inspire and set new benchmarks in journalism, maintaining the legacy of excellence for which it is celebrated,” Onyima added.

The Association, made up of former THISDAY employees, expressed pride in the institution’s role in shaping both the Nigerian media landscape and the careers of its alumni. They extended their best wishes for THISDAY’s continued success in informing, inspiring, and influencing society for many years to come.
