Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has formally presented Barrister Danladi Umar Envulu-Anza as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the June 20 Nasarawa North Senatorial District bye-election.
The presentation took place during a stakeholders’ engagement at the VIP Lodge in Akwanga, bringing together party leaders, elders, traditional rulers and political stakeholders from across the senatorial district.
The event was organised to formally unveil the APC flagbearer and mobilise support ahead of the poll.
Addressing stakeholders, Governor Sule urged voters to assess political office seekers based on their development records and capacity to deliver democratic dividends rather than on religious, ethnic or sentimental considerations.
According to him, communities deserve leaders whose achievements can be measured and verified.
The governor cited major infrastructure projects undertaken by his administration, including the ongoing Mararaba dual flyover project, as examples of development driven by vision and competence.
He described Envulu-Anza as a candidate with the experience, capacity and connections required to effectively represent Nasarawa North in the Senate.
Governor Sule said the legal practitioner’s background and public service record positioned him to attract opportunities and development to the district.
Chairman of the DHE Campaign Organisation, Senator Philip Aruwa Gyunka, formally introduced the candidate to stakeholders and highlighted his career achievements.
He traced Envulu-Anza’s public service journey from his days as a magistrate in Plateau State to his appointment as the first Chief Registrar of Nasarawa State and later as the longest-serving Secretary of the National Judicial Council (NJC).
Gyunka said the APC candidate had consistently used positions he occupied to advance the interests of his people through employment opportunities, institutional development and community empowerment.
He argued that the bye-election presents an opportunity for the district to elect a candidate with extensive national connections capable of attracting benefits to the constituency.
Also speaking, Chairman of the Nasarawa North Elders Forum, Elder Timothy Anjide, said the campaign team had received the support and blessings of traditional rulers across the zone.
According to him, traditional institutions had called for unity among stakeholders and urged residents to support the APC in the forthcoming election.
Anjide appealed to party members and community leaders to remain united and avoid actions that could undermine the district’s political interests.
Campaign Director, Coach Bally, described Envulu-Anza as a leader whose contributions to the development of Nasarawa North span several decades.
He said the candidate’s experience and network within national institutions would be an advantage in attracting development projects and opportunities to the district.
Bally added that even within the limited duration of the bye-election mandate, Envulu-Anza could lay the foundation for broader political and developmental gains in the years ahead.
The Nasarawa North Senatorial District bye-election is scheduled to hold on June 20.
