Shettima Says Tinubu Committed To Restoring Peace, Stability Nationwide

Shettima says Tinubu is committed to restoring peace and urges Nigerians to pray for unity and national stability.

Vice President Kashim Shettima on Friday called on Nigerians to fervently pray for peace and stability in the country, assuring that President Bola Tinubu remains committed to restoring peace and security nationwide.

He also assured that the government is working to secure the safe return of children and other citizens currently in the hands of bandits and terrorists, while paying tribute to past heroes who safeguarded Nigeria’s democracy.

Shettima made the call in Abuja shortly after a special Jummat prayer held at the National Mosque to mark this year’s Democracy Day celebrations.

“I want to assure Nigerians of President Bola Tinubu’s unwavering commitment towards restoring peace and stability in the nation.

“No matter how long the night is, it must give way to the light of dawn. Stormy as the weather may be, it will not rain forever. The government remains irrevocably committed to restoring peace and stability in the nation,” he said.

The Vice President urged Nigerians to pray for the country and one another, stressing that unity is stronger than division.

Earlier in his sermon, the Imam of the National Mosque, Haroun Eze, urged Nigerians to remain patriotic and support efforts to defend the nation.

He also called on leaders at all levels to take decisive action to address security challenges and ensure lasting peace and development.

The annual Democracy Day prayer service highlighted reflection, unity and prayer as Nigeria marks democratic milestones while confronting security and development challenges.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq; Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris; Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola; and former Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje.

Others present included former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Yayale Ahmed; Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari; and outgoing JAMB Registrar, Ishaq Oloyede.
