PSG Secure Fifth Consecutive Ligue 1 Title After Win Over Lens

PSG defeated Lens 2-0 to secure a fifth consecutive Ligue 1 title and their record-extending 14th French crown.

Paris Saint-Germain secured a fifth consecutive Ligue 1 title after defeating closest challengers Lens 2-0 away, confirming their dominance of French football with one game remaining in the season.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia opened the scoring in the 29th minute after latching onto a quick pass from Ousmane Dembele, while teenage substitute Ibrahim Mbaye sealed the win with a stoppage-time strike at Stade Bollaert-Delelis.

The victory moved PSG to 76 points, leaving second-placed Lens on 67 and mathematically out of the title race. The triumph marked PSG’s 14th Ligue 1 crown, extending their record as the most successful club in French league history.

Despite travelling with a weak squad due to injuries to several key players, PSG survived intense pressure from Lens, thanks largely to goalkeeper Matvey Safonov. The Russian shot-stopper produced a series of crucial saves to deny Wesley Said and Abdallah Sima, while Illia Zabarnyi also cleared Adrien Thomasson’s header off the line early in the match.

Lens pushed hard for an equaliser in front of a vibrant home crowd, with Sima striking the post in the second half, but PSG remained resilient before Mbaye’s late goal added gloss to the scoreline.

The Parisians now turn their attention to the Champions League final against Arsenal in Budapest on May 30 after concluding their league campaign against Paris FC on Sunday.

Lens, assured of second place and Champions League qualification next season, will finish their Ligue 1 season against Olympique Lyonnais before facing Nice in the French Cup final on May 22.
