Police Rescue Ex-Minister Adelabu’s Sister And Her Twin Sons After Gun Battle With Kidnappers

Police have rescued ex-Minister Adelabu’s sister and her twin sons after a deadly gun battle with kidnappers.

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have rescued Mrs Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, alive during a late-night operation conducted around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026.

The rescue operation followed days of intelligence gathering and tactical pressure mounted on the kidnappers after the victims were abducted on June 3 while travelling to drop the children at school.

Police sources confirmed that two suspected kidnappers were neutralised during a gun duel with operatives, while two firearms were recovered from the gang.

Mrs John-Paul is the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu.

According to security sources, sustained intelligence tracking forced the kidnappers into a confrontation with police operatives, leading to the successful rescue of the victims without reported injuries.

Security operatives have since launched a manhunt for other fleeing members of the kidnapping syndicate, some of whom are believed to have escaped with gunshot wounds.
