Breaking: Adelabu’s Sister And Her Twin Sons Abducted In Ibadan

Family confirms abduction of former power minister Adebayo Adelabu’s sister and her twin sons, urges calm as security agencies begin investigations.

The family of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has confirmed the abduction of his younger sister, Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, and her twin sons in Ibadan.

According to a statement issued by the family in Wednesday, Mrs. John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, were kidnapped by armed gunmen at about 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday while she was taking the children to school.

The family said the incident was immediately reported to relevant security and law enforcement agencies, which have since commenced investigations and rescue efforts.

Mrs. John-Paul, 43, is the youngest of five children of Mrs. Olufunmilayo Aduke Adegoke Adelabu. The family disclosed that she recently retired after a career spanning the Central Bank of Nigeria and First Bank Pension Custodian and had relocated to Ibadan with her children while preparing to join her husband in the United States.

The statement said security agencies had swung into action and were working to secure the safe release of the victims and apprehend those responsible for the abduction.

Chief Adelabu and members of the family expressed deep concern over the incident but said they remained confident in the capacity of security operatives to rescue the victims safely.

The family appealed to the public to remain calm, avoid speculation and refrain from circulating unverified information that could undermine ongoing security operations.

They also called on anyone with useful information that could assist investigators to report such details through the appropriate channels.

The family pledged to continue cooperating with security agencies and said further updates would be provided as developments unfold.
