Police Nab Suspected Drug Trafficker With 2,000 Diazepam Tablets In Katsina

Katsina police arrested two suspects after recovering 2,000 diazepam tablets during an anti-crime patrol in Funtua.

The Katsina State Police Command has arrested one Jibrin Salisu, a suspected notorious drug trafficker, in possession of 2,000 tablets of diazepam in Funtua Local Government Area of the state.

Salisu, 27, according to the command, was intercepted on 15 June, 2026, while riding on his motorcycle by police operatives on anti-crime patrol attached to the Central Police Station in the commercial city.

In a Saturday statement, the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, said two sachets containing 2,000 tablets of diazepam were recovered from the suspect after a thorough search by the personnel.

The statement read: “On June 15, 2026, at about 12:00 PM, a team of policemen on anti-crime patrol attached to the Central Police Station (CPS), Funtua, intercepted the suspect while he was riding on his motorcycle.

“A thorough search conducted on his person led to the discovery of two (2) sachets containing 2,000 tablets suspected to be Diazepam.

“During the course of investigation, the suspect confessed to receiving the exhibits from one Faith Eze, ‘f’, aged 26, for delivery to an accomplice popularly known as ‘Gurgu’, ‘m’, who is currently at large.

“Following a diligent follow-up operation, police operatives successfully traced and arrested the said Faith Eze. The suspects confessed to the commission of the offence.”

The statement added that efforts are being sustained to ensure the arrest of the fleeing suspect, and further development will be communicated in due course.

It reiterated the Command’s zero-tolerance stance on drug trafficking and abuse under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, Umar Ali Fage.

It quoted Fage as warning all individuals involved in the sale and distribution of illicit drugs to desist forthwith or face the full wrath of the law.

According to the statement, the Katsina police chief urged members of the public to continue supporting the Command with timely and useful information to help rid the state of drug dealers and other criminal elements.
