Polish authorities have launched an investigation after suspected drone debris was discovered on a beach along the country’s Baltic Sea coast on Tuesday.
The object was spotted by a passerby in Karwia, in Puck County, who alerted the police after noticing what appeared to be a drone. Military bomb disposal specialists and other emergency personnel were subsequently dispatched to the scene.
In a statement posted on X late Tuesday, military police said the fragments were found at approximately 6:30 pm local time on October 13, 2026. Authorities are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the discovery.
Military police spokesman Dariusz Rozkosz told Polish broadcaster TVN24 that officials had yet to establish the nature or type of object recovered from the beach.
Poland shares a border with Ukraine and is NATO’s largest member on the alliance’s eastern flank. Repeated airspace incursions in the region have heightened concerns that Russia’s war against Ukraine could extend beyond the country’s borders, potentially posing further security risks to NATO members.
Authorities have not confirmed whether the debris found in Karwia is connected to the ongoing conflict. Investigations are continuing as officials seek to establish the origin of the object.
