Lawyers representing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Gombe State, Professor Isa Ali Pantami, have given the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) three days to publish his name on the list of candidates for the 2027 governorship election.
The legal team, led by three Senior Advocates of Nigeria, described the omission as unlawful, insisting that Pantami emerged from a fresh party primary conducted on September 29 in compliance with a court order.
The Federal High Court had earlier nullified the PDP’s May 26 primary and directed the party to conduct a fresh exercise within 30 days.
However, Pantami’s lawyers maintain that the court judgments did not disqualify their client from contesting the governorship election.
The legal team is demanding that INEC publish Pantami’s name by Wednesday, October 14, and provide written confirmation of the corrective action taken.
INEC is yet to respond to the demand.
