Osun Government Confirms Local Government Salaries Paid Amid Withheld Allocations

Osun State Governor Adeleke’s administration continues regular local government salary payments, though some allowances are delayed due to withheld statutory funds.

Osun State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi

The Osun State Government has clarified that salaries of local government workers were being paid regularly, despite ongoing challenges linked to withheld statutory allocations.

In a statement in Osogbo, the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, said claims that salaries were being affected by the diversion of local government funds were inaccurate.

According to the statement, “The administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke has continued to meet salary obligations through state resources, even as roughly ₦230 billion in local government allocations remains withheld.”

Alimi explained that while core salaries were uninterrupted, certain allowances and supplementary entitlements have been affected because they were tied directly to local government statutory allocations.

The withheld funds were originally intended to support grassroots administration, development projects, operational costs, and worker benefits at the local level.

The commissioner stressed that sustaining salary payments amid financial challenges demonstrated the government’s commitment to workers’ welfare and financial stability for families across Osun State.

He urged the public to clearly distinguish between core salaries and supplementary entitlements to avoid misinformation.
