In a congratulatory message marking the milestone, Onyema described the Sultan’s two decades of traditional leadership as a testament to service, wisdom and commitment to the country’s unity.
He praised the monarch for his role in promoting religious harmony, fostering mutual understanding and encouraging peaceful relations among Nigerians of different religious and cultural backgrounds.
According to the Air Peace Chairman, the Sultan has distinguished himself over the past 20 years as a respected voice of reason whose influence extends beyond the Sokoto Caliphate and the Muslim community.
Onyema noted that the monarch’s consistent advocacy for peace, tolerance and national cohesion had strengthened confidence in the ability of traditional and religious institutions to contribute meaningfully to nation-building.
He described the Sultan as a bridge-builder whose leadership had helped promote dialogue and understanding across religious and cultural divides.
The Air Peace Chairman particularly acknowledged the monarch’s role as President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), commending his efforts to encourage interfaith dialogue and peaceful coexistence.
Onyema maintained that such efforts remained especially important at a time when Nigeria required greater understanding, unity and collective commitment to addressing its challenges.
He noted that the Sultan’s leadership of the NSCIA had provided an important platform for promoting religious harmony and encouraging cooperation among communities.
The Air Peace Chairman said the 20th anniversary represented more than a traditional milestone, describing it as an opportunity to recognise the monarch’s contributions to humanity and the Nigerian nation.
He maintained that the Sultan’s commitment to peace and national cohesion demonstrated the important role traditional institutions could play in strengthening social stability.
Onyema also praised the monarch’s dedication to the welfare of the Sokoto Caliphate, the Muslim Ummah and Nigerians generally.
He offered prayers for the Sultan’s continued good health, wisdom and strength to sustain his contributions to traditional leadership and national development.
The Air Peace Chairman prayed that Almighty Allah would grant the monarch many more fruitful years on the throne and enable him to continue promoting peace, tolerance and unity.
