Chikwe Ihekweazu, the Director-General of Nigeria Centre for Disease Control says there is no available evidence that the AstraZeneca vaccine is less efficacious against the strain from India circulating in 44 countries including Nigeria.

Dr Ihekweazu, a Nigerian epidemiologist and public health physician stated this on Thursday when he featured on ARISE News and noted that the challenge will be getting enough citizens vaccinated quickly to avoid contracting the strain.

Akeredolu Speaks on Grazing Ban and Other Resolutions By Nigeria’s 17 Southern Governors

Spokesman of Nigeria’s Southern Governors’ Forum, Ondo Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, says the rank and file of Nigeria’s northern governors will be broken should they kick against plans by their southern counterpart to implement a ban on open grazing across the 17 southern states.

The 17 southern state governors had on Tuesday after a meeting placed a ban on open grazing of cattle across the region, noting that development and population growth has put pressure on available land and increased the prospects of conflict between migrating herders and local populations.
