Nigeria’s Supreme Court Confirms Ademola Adeleke Osun State Governor

Oyetola had requested that the Supreme Court overturn the appeal court’s decision to invalidate the electoral tribunal’s decision.

Ademola Adeleke has been confirmed as the governor of Osun state by the supreme court.

Tuesday, a five-member panel of the supreme court issued its ruling, concluding that Adeleke had been reinstalled as governor by the court of appeal in the proper manner.

A five-judge panel of the Supreme Court decided who, out of Senator Ademola Adeleke, the current governor of Osun State, and Isiaka Oyetola, the most recent governor, would lead the state’s administration.

Following the adoption of all the parties’ written papers in the case by the court, a five-judge panel chaired by Justice John Okoro was set.

Oyetola requested that the Supreme Court overturn the appeal court’s decision to invalidate the electoral tribunal’s decision.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Oyetola was pronounced the winner by the electoral tribunal that reviewed the case.

Oyetola moved to court to contest Adeleke’s victory, which had been proclaimed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and was ultimately ruled the victor by the electoral tribunal.

In addition to Oyetola’s appeal, the Supreme Court also ruled on a cross-appeal filed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) challenging a portion of the Court of Appeal’s ruling.
