The Nigerian government recently flagged off the Deep Blue project aimed at providing comprehensive monitoring of the country’s exclusive economic zone. Rotimi Amaechi, the country’s Minister for Transportation while appearing on ARISE News on Monday said privately-owned security companies prior to 2015 were contracted to provide security for oil companies in the water which appeared to be very challenging financially.
He told ARISE News that the project will enable both the protection of Nigeria from illegal activities and piracy and the protection of the country’s natural resources and assets.
