Nigeria Decides: Tinubu, Obi in Tight Race in Lagos

Lagos State is regarded as the major stronghold of the APC presidential candidate, having served as governor from 1999 to 2007.

Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), has won Ikeja LGA in Lagos state.

Ikeja is the local government area of Bola Tinubu, standard bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Olusegun Agbaje, the INEC resident electoral commissioner, announced the result at the collation centre in the state on Sunday.

Obi secured 30,004 votes in the LGA, while Tinubu polled 21,276 and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had 2,280.

There are 10 wards in the LGA, with 322,600 registered voters and 57,530 accredited to vote.

The INEC REC said the total valid votes were 55, 062 while the rejected votes stood at 2,468

There was no vote cancellation in the LGA.

Tinubu however won election in seven other LGAs announced so far in the state, including Agege, Epe, Badagry, Lagos Mainland, Ikorodu, Ibeju-Lekki, and Lagos Island.
