As Nigeria’s political parties prepare to do battle in the 2023 elections, there are growing concerns over the quality of aspirants that have indicated interest in competing for the Presidency and Governorship positions.

For many Nigerians, the current crop of Presidential and Governorship hopefuls – comprising mostly the old guard – do not inspire hope or confidence among the electorate.

Critics are of view that if the political parties present them as candidates in the next general election, voter turnout could decline to a record low due to voter apathy.
