YouTube star MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, has married his fiancée, Thea Booysen, in a private ceremony held on Richard Branson’s Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands.
The 28-year-old content creator, regarded as the world’s biggest YouTuber with more than 500 million subscribers, announced the marriage in a joint Instagram post with Booysen, sharing photographs from the ceremony. The couple exchanged vows in an intimate celebration after Donaldson had previously said he wanted a small and private wedding despite his reputation for extravagant online productions.
Donaldson captioned the post: “Found MrsBeast,” while also describing the occasion as “the best day of my life.”
Photos from the wedding showed Booysen wearing a floor-length lace wedding gown with a floral design, while Donaldson wore a white tuxedo. Booysen later changed into a white mini dress with a sparkly bodice and feathered skirt for the cake-cutting before wearing an off-the-shoulder satin outfit later in the celebration.
The couple got engaged on Christmas Day in 2024, when Donaldson proposed while they were both wearing matching MrBeast-branded festive jumpers.
Donaldson has built one of the largest online audiences in the world through viral YouTube videos featuring elaborate challenges, large cash giveaways and high-profile stunts. He also created the Prime Video reality competition series Beast Games, in which contestants compete for a multi-million-dollar prize.
Booysen, who is originally from South Africa, is also a content creator with her own YouTube channel, TheaBeasty, which has nearly 140,000 subscribers. She also streams on Twitch and is a published author.
While Donaldson’s online success has made him one of the world’s most influential digital creators, he has also faced legal challenges in recent months, including a lawsuit filed by a former employee alleging sexual harassment and workplace gender bias. He has also faced legal action from contestants over their treatment during Beast Games, alongside claims that some of his giveaway videos and competitions were staged.
