Moses Itauma To Fight Filip Hrgovic For Vacant IBF Heavyweight Title

British heavyweight, Moses Itauma will face Filip Hrgovic for the vacant IBF world title at London’s O2 Arena on August 29.

British heavyweight, Moses Itauma will challenge Filip Hrgovic for the vacant IBF heavyweight world title on August 29, at London’s O2 Arena.

The 21-year-old prospect will have the opportunity to become the youngest heavyweight world champion since Mike Tyson if he defeats the experienced Croatian. The IBF title became vacant after Oleksandr Usyk relinquished the belt in June.

Promoter, Frank Warren expressed confidence in Itauma, describing the unbeaten heavyweight as a fighter who has “taken the world by storm” since turning professional. Itauma has amassed a 14-0 record with 12 knockouts and is regarded as one of boxing’s brightest young talents.

The title fight was confirmed after Cuban contender, Frank Sanchez agreed to step aside in exchange for a guaranteed shot at the winner. Itauma heads into the bout following impressive victories over Jermaine Franklin and Dillian Whyte, while Hrgovic, who holds a 20-win professional record, most recently stopped Dave Allen in the third round in May.
