The Presidential Candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM), Seyi Makinde, has called on Nigerians to collect any money that would be given to them by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), during the campaigns ahead of the 2027 general elections, but urged them to vote their conscience.
He said this in his speech at the APM Presidential Campaign flag-off which took place at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium Bauchi, on Saturday.
Makinde, who is also the Oyo State Governor, told Nigerians that any money they are given by the APC during the campaign is theirs, so they should not resist it but collect it.
“When they give you money, it’s your money, collect it, spend it, but vote your heart; and I believe your heart is with us and with APM and you will vote for us,” he said.
He reiterated his promise of resetting Nigeria, if voted as President in the 2027 election.
He said: “If you are not happy with the way things are in our country today, if you are not happy that there is no enough inclusivity, if you are not happy that your government cannot tell you the truth and they cannot handle our issues with sincerity, then, there is only one path, and the path is to reset Nigeria.”
The National Leader of the APM and Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, assured Nigerians that the APM will work on the basis of knowledge with its reset Nigeria agenda which has captured the sensibilities of Nigerians.
“We are going to work on the basis of knowledge. We have a reset Nigeria agenda which has captured the sensibilities of Nigerians because everything about our challenges are captured in it.
“Our Presidential candidate has worked tirelessly with consultants with the hindsight of knowledge and understanding, because he has delivered in Oyo State. He has spoken about resetting Nigeria and he is going to take everybody along.
“He has also talked about unity government, that is the inclusion, throwing away impunity, tribalism which is the baane of our problems, religious bigotry, people are fanning the embers of differences; the gentleman (Makinde), is ready to manage diversities and that is what we are doing in Bauchi,” he said.
The National Chairman of the APM, Yusuf Dantalle, said Nigeria’s democracy has been stiffled in a way that has not been done before,
He assured Nigerians that the party will reset democracy, governance, the economy and social life, if given the opportunity to lead the country.
He said: “Our democracy has been so stifled in a way that we have never had before, but the APM is here to reset Nigeria from democracy, governance, economy, social life.
“The socioeconomic problems we have today, insecurity and poverty and squalor in themselves are not problems, they are only indicating that so many things are wrong with our socioeconomic arena. We are in pains, we need to reset this country.”
Highlight of the event was the presentation of the APM flag to Makinde by the National Chairman of the party.
