London Arrest: Edo Assembly Summons Natasha Osawaru Over Viral 2Baba Altercation, Ethics Committee To Review Conduct

The Edo State House of Assembly has summoned Natasha Osawaru, member representing Egor constituency, over her recent conduct captured in viral videos involving her husband, Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba. The lawmaker is expected to appear before the assembly’s ethics and privileges committee within a week.

During Tuesday’s plenary session, Speaker Blessing Agbebaku expressed concerns over Osawaru’s public behavior, saying it “drags the name of the house into the mud” and has led to negative social media attention. He emphasised that members are expected to conduct themselves responsibly in public.

“Hon. Natasha Irobosa has been summoned to appear before the ethics and privileges committee of the assembly due to her recent conduct which has been trending online,” Agbebaku said. “This precious house with cerebral members has been dragged into the mud for too long. She has been trending negatively on the social media and television. We want to let the public know that this house is a very decent house. We have responsible and intelligent members. The conduct of a member cannot drag the house into disrepute. We frown against it and we will not take it.”

The controversy stems from video clips showing Osawaru and 2Baba involved in a heated argument during an Instagram Live session hosted by media personality Daddy Freeze. Former managers of 2Baba, Kaka Igbokwe and Lori Tosan, joined the session, accusing Osawaru of seeking “full control” over the singer’s finances and career. The dispute escalated when 2Baba intervened, instructing his former managers to stop discussing his private life, followed by an audible argument with Osawaru off-camera.

Another clip circulated online showed Osawaru apparently shouting at 2Baba in a London shop. Kaka Igbokwe, 2Baba’s former manager and son of late Nigerian music legend Christy Essien-Igbokwe, confirmed the incident, stating the couple had a heated altercation at London’s Gatwick Airport after 2Baba allegedly left Osawaru behind while interacting with fans.

“Everything you had about the couple’s face-off was true,” Igbokwe said during Daddy Freeze’s Instagram Live session. He explained that Osawaru became upset after she felt abandoned by 2Baba, leading to a confrontation that resulted in the singer being handcuffed by authorities.

The incident first made headlines on December 1, 2025, when Tosin Silverdam, a blogger, posted video clips online showing 2Baba allegedly being arrested and arguing with Osawaru at the airport. Silverdam suggested that Osawaru was “jealous of 2Baba getting all the attention.” Screenshots from the clips show officers speaking with the singer outside a store before escorting him away.

The assembly’s ethics committee is expected to review the case and report back within two weeks. The situation has reignited debates across social media, with Nigerians revisiting prior reports, despite 2Baba previously denying being arrested and explaining he missed a show due to a medical emergency.
