Kogi Assembly Razed by Inferno, Roof Furniture Burnt to Ashes

The firefighters from Dangote cement Obajana came around 10.00 am to quench the fire, but were too late.

A cross section of Kogi State House of Assembly particularly the legislative chamber and gallery has been gutted by fire.

The cause of the inferno was not immediately known, stressing that the fire incident started about 7.00
am on early hours of Monday morning .

The chamber, gallery furniture, air conditioners, tables, chairs and every other fixtures, as well as the roof were completely razed down.

Sources further disclosed that the security personal at the complex claimed that they only noticed the the fire incident around 7.00am and started calling those who mattered .

The fire incident has caused incalculable damages to floor of the chamber as well as the gallery section where alway host the visitors and pressmen.

The THISDAY correspondent who visited the Kogi House Assembly complex reports that the entire Chamber and gallery have been burnt to ashes.

While speaking, the speaker of the House Prince Mathew Kolawole who was among the people who arrived at the scene of incident at Assembly Complex expressed shocked and could not believe what he saw on Monday .

Kolawole also told journalists that since the security personnel were on ground at the scene of incident ,stressing that the house will allow security agencies to investigate the incident.

He pointed out that the he suspected that there was sabotage somewhere, but will wait for the report of the investigations .

He however, said this will not stop the Assembly from performing it’s duty, adding that the resolution of the house concerning Dangote Cement PLC stands.
