Barely two weeks ago, a young lady, Bamise Anyanwole boarded a public bus run by the Lagos State Bus Service Limited, but never returned home.

She was declared missing by her family and was sadly found dead last Sunday under a bridge at the Ebute Ero neighbourhood in Lagos.

Bamise, 22, was said to have closed from work around 7pm on February 26 and was on her way to visit her brother, Pelumi, when she boarded the bus around Chevron Bus-stop in the Lekki area of the state.

But when she noticed that the driver of the bus, Nice Omininikoron, after picking her, was not stopping to pick other passengers, she sensed danger and reportedly contacted one of her colleagues at work, Felicia Omolara.

Bamise informed Felicia about her suspicions and Felicia, in turn, advised her to disembark from the bus.

However, when Felicia noticed that her friend had stopped responding to her messages on WhatsApp, she called Bamise’s phone number, but when Bamise answered, she could he heard arguing with a man.

That was the last time Felicia heard from Bamise, compelling her to contact family members of the now deceased young lady of her concerns.

Since the discovery of Bamise’s mutilated body, the police have swung into action and arrested some suspects, including the bus driver and his guarantor.

To update us on the gruesome murder of Bamishe and what efforts are being made to get justice for the family, is AYO ADEMILUYI, counsel to the family of the late Bamise Anyanwole. Joining him are PELUMI ANYANWOLE ABEGUNDE, Deceased brother and CAROLINE ONI, Bamise’s Guardian.
