Jigawa Police Recover Stolen Electronics, Cows, 3,427 Illicit Drugs

Jigawa Police arrest suspected vandals, thieves, cattle rustlers and drug dealers, recovering stolen electronics, cows, illicit drugs and cash.

The Jigawa State Police Command has recorded a series of operational successes, arresting suspected vandals, thieves, cattle rustlers and drug dealers in coordinated operations across the state.

The operations led to the recovery of three cows, vandalised armoured cable wires, a PlayStation 5 console, two plasma television sets and 3,427 assorted illicit drugs, alongside cash suspected to be proceeds of drug sales.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Lawan Adam, said the arrests were part of intensified intelligence-led policing and proactive crime-fighting efforts aimed at tackling criminal activities across Jigawa State.

According to the statement, operatives on July 8 arrested a suspected vandal in possession of electric cable wires believed to have been stolen from behind Hotel Hotel in Dutse metropolis. Further investigations led to the arrest of two suspected receivers of the stolen cables and other items.

The suspects were identified as Aminu Mohammed, 17, Abdullahi Mustapha, 17, and Sani Umar, 18, all residents of Dutse Local Government Area. Police said they would be charged to court after investigations.

In another operation, operatives attached to Dutse Division arrested Suleiman Muhammad, 23, of Kano State, for allegedly possessing suspected stolen items, including a PlayStation 5 console and two plasma television sets valued at N2.5 million.

The command said the recovered items were identified by their rightful owners and released to them on bond, while the suspect would be prosecuted upon the conclusion of investigations.

Police also said operatives from Guri Division, acting on credible intelligence and with support from local vigilantes, arrested a suspected cattle rustler found with three suspected stolen cows concealed in his compound.

The recovered animals were handed over to their owner on bond, while efforts continued to arrest other members of the rustling syndicate.

In a separate operation, police operatives raided identified drug hotspots in Dutse, Gumel and Kazaure local government areas, leading to the arrest of three suspected drug dealers.

The suspects were identified as Garba Muhammad, Buhari Umar and Auwalu Dan Jos.

Police recovered 3,427 illicit drugs and substances, including Exol, Tramadol, Pregabalin, D5 tablets, rubber solution and substances suspected to be Indian hemp.

The command also recovered N100,660 suspected to be proceeds from drug sales.

It said the suspects would be arraigned in court after investigations.

The Commissioner of Police commended the officers involved in the operations for their professionalism and praised residents for providing information that aided the arrests.

The command reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining operations against criminal activities and ensuring the protection of lives and property across Jigawa State.
