INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan warned the media at a press conference in Abuja marking one hundred days to the 2027 election against declaring privately collated results, insisting that only INEC has that authority under the Electoral Act. He also revealed that the voter register now stands at 103 million and that a new artificial intelligence unit has been opened to combat deepfakes.
Concurrently, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde posted a video, holding up his Permanent Voter Card, urging Nigerians to use their PVC wisely regardless of who they choose. INEC has confirmed that collection begins on Friday, October 9th.
Meanwhile, FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike says at town hall meetings in Obio-Akpor, Rivers State on Monday that President Bola Tinubu’s re-election is always on his mind, even when he is sleeping or eating. He repeated his pledge to resign on January 17th if the President loses Rivers State on January 16th, and criticised Atiku Abubakar’s call for Nigerians to collect politicians’ money but vote against them, calling it dangerous and irresponsible.

Today, one of the most heartbreaking stories from Monday’s Nigerian Air Force crash in Ondo State has emerged. Squadron Leader, Ahamefule Man-Ugwu-eje, one of the five crew members who died, had married his colleague, Flight Lieutenant, Damilola Adekunle on September 19th at the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Abuja, and videos from their wedding have since gone viral. Damilola is also the daughter of the late Wing Commander, E.O. Adekunle, one of thirteen military officers killed in the 2006 military aircraft crash in Benue State.
