
Senators under the aegis of south-east caucus led by Enyinnaya Abaribe, chairman of the caucus and senator representing Abia south, on Thursday, walked out of the chamber in anger, following the senate’s second rejection of a motion, to immortalise the late Humphrey Nwosu, the former chairman of the National Electoral Commission.
Addresing the press, the lawmakers asked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to honour Nwosu’s legacy.
Senator Abaribe said that he was surprised, that up to this moment, Humphrey Nwosu who conducted the fairest election in Nigeria’s history has not been recognised or honoured by the government of Nigeria.
The Lawmakers who rejected the motion to immortalize the late Humphrey Nwosu debated passionately on the motion on the floor of the Senate.
Solomon Adeola, the lawmaker representing Ogun West, said the late Humphrey Nwosu failed to salvage Nigeria’s democracy during the annulled election.
Adeola claimed that he lost his brother due to the events of June 12 and insisted that Nwosu did not deserve recognition.
Senator Adams Oshiomhole also rejected the motion to immortalize Humphrey Nwosu, he argued that Nwosu and the then military head of state, Ibrahim Babangida, deceived Nigerians by conducting the June 12 election, only for it to be annulled.
The Delta State Commissioner for Information and Works (Rural Roads) Charles Aniagwu, has clarified the viral video showing some nursing students in the state, singing a call and response song during the visit of the first lady of Nigeria Senator Oluremi Tinubu, in the state.
Aniagwu stated that the viral song conveyed messages that were at variance with the scenario at the moment.
A nursing student from the Delta school of Nursing in Agbor, Chioma has come out to state that the viral video of nursing students singing against First Lady of Nigeria, Remi Tinubu are not affiliated with the school.
Abisola Kola-Daisi, the first daughter of the late Abiola Ajimobi, a former governor of Oyo state, passed away on Thursday at the Age of 44.
Abisola as she is fondly called, was said to have been battling with breast cancer for several years.
She died at a hospital in the United Kingdom, although the cause of her death remains unknown.
Before her passing, she served as a special adviser to the minister of budget and planning, Atiku Bagudu.
She is survived by her husband, Kolapo Kola-Daisi, her three children, and her mother, Florence Ajimobi.
