Fubara Denies Defection Rumours, Reaffirms Loyalty To APC

Governor Siminalayi Fubara has dismissed defection rumours, insisting he remains committed to the APC and its overall interests.

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has dismissed reports speculating that he has defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting that he remains a member of the party.

Governor Fubara made the clarification on Wednesday, after inspecting the Neuropsychiatric Hospital and the newly constructed General Hospital in Rumuigbo, Port Harcourt.

He described the defection rumours as products of social media speculation and misinterpretation of events, urging the public to disregard the reports.

The governor insisted that he remained a member of the ruling party and will continue to work for the overall interest of the party

“I know that there has been a lot of drama in the media, with one story or the other. I am a member of APC and nothing has changed. People should stop using whatever situation they pick up from social media or their own interpretation of any situation to present me wrongly.

“I have not gone anywhere, I am still a member of APC and I remain a member. Whatever happens, what is most important is supporting the overall interest of the party”, he said.

The Rivers State governor also reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery in the state, stressing that the protection of lives and welfare of residents remained a top priority.

He explained that the new General Hospital project was initiated to address concerns about limited access to quality healthcare, particularly mental health services, in the area.

According to him, many residents previously had to travel long distances to access medical care, with the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital being the nearest facility.

Fubara said his administration decided to make use of available space within the hospital premises to establish a General Hospital that would serve Rumuigbo, Rumuola, Rumuolumeni, and surrounding communities.

Expressing satisfaction with the progress of work, he noted that the project was nearly completed, adding that it had reached about 95 per cent completion.

He described the development as the fulfillment of a promise and emphasised that governance should focus on projects that directly improve the lives of the people.
