The winners of the 2026 FIFA World Cup will recieve custom-made championship rings in addition to the iconic trophy and gold medals, introducing a new prize inspired by American sporting tradition.
FIFA announced that 30 customised rings will be awarded to the victorious squad following Sunday’s final between Argentina and Spain at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
The rings will feature the World Cup trophy on one side, while the other will be personalised to reflect the identity of the winning team. Captains and head coaches will receive temporary rings immediately after the final, with the customised versions presented to players at a later date.
A limited edition of 2,026 individually numbered rings will be produced, with the remaining 1,996 made available for fans to purchase.
Sunday’s final will also include a star-studded closing ceremony before kick-off and a half-time show featuring global music icons.
Argentina are chasing consecutive World Cup titles after edging England in the semifinal, while Spain are aiming to lift the trophy for the second time since their 2010 triumph. Lionel Messi could become the first player to start three World Cup finals and extend his all-time World Cup scoring record, while he remains tied with France’s Kylian Mbappé on eight goals in the race for the Golden Boot.
