FCT administration has approved over N33bn in contracts for major projects, including courts, police stations, sports complexes, and insurance cover.

The Federal Capital Administration has awarded various contracts totalling over N33 billion for the provision of infrastructure, including two magistrate courts, three multi-event sports complexes, 12 Police divisional headquarters in the six Area councils, among others.

It also considered a memo for a contract totaling N795,067,438.99 for the provision of insurance cover for the combined all-risk insurance policy for the FCTA movable and immovable assets for 12 months.

The strategic decision was one of the outcomes reached on Thursday at the first meeting in 2025 of the Executive Committee, chaired by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

The committee, according to the Coordinator Satellite Towns Development Department, AbdulKadir Zulkiflu, approved the construction of two Magistrate’s Courts in Asokoro and Garki Districts at the sum of N7.6 billion and N6.3 billion respectively.

He said the projects have completion periods of 15 and 18 months, respectively and they align with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at improving service delivery within the FCT.

He added that the EXCO also approved for the STDD, a multi-event sports complex, which is in two lots. Lot A is at Garki District, Area 3 and Area 10 at the cost of N9.857 billion while Lot B is a Sport Centre at Kafe District behind Life Camp at the cost of N9.748 billion.

The completion is 12 months while the contractors are Earth-Gain Energy, Environmental Services Limited, Twaga Twaga Nigeria Limited.

The Director Department of Security Services, Adamu Gwary also disclosed the FCT EXCO awarded a contract totaling N3.6 billion to construct two divisional police headquarters in each of the six area councils.

He said the EXCO meeting considered the memo presented by the Security Service Department for the provision of two divisional headquarters in each of the six areas.

According to him, apart from the divisional headquarters, the facilities will also include a six-man staff quarters for the police operatives in Kuje Area Council, Gwagwalada Area Council and Kwali Area Council.

“This is in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda by providing effective, efficient and adequate security for the residents of the Federal Capital Territory. This is equally in line with the Minister’s promise during his visit to the six area councils last year assuring them of the presence of the FCT Administration to provide effective security.

“Fulfilling this promise is the provision of security infrastructure which includes the police divisional headquarters and police officers’ quarters to ensure that police are provided with all necessary requisite equipment to fight crime, particularly the security challenges at the area councils and the hinterland,” Gwary said.

He said the administration had made significant progress in terms of reducing crime and criminality in the FCT, asserting their desire to maintain and ensure that all hands were on deck to reduce the number of crime and criminality to the barest minimum.

Also, the Head of Service FCTA, Grace Adayilo, disclosed that a memo was approved by the FCT EXCO for the award of a contract for the provision of insurance cover for the combined all-risk insurance policy for the FCTA movable and immovable assets for 12 months. The value of the contract was N795 million.
