Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has committed his future to the club by signing a record-breaking long-term contract that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2034.
Haaland, 23, joined City from Borussia Dortmund in 2022 and has since scored 111 goals in 126 appearances. His previous contract, which reportedly included a release clause, was due to expire in 2027.
“I am really happy to have signed my new contract and to look forward to spending even more time at this great club,” Haaland said. “Manchester City is a special club, full of fantastic people and amazing supporters, and it’s the type of environment that brings the best out of everybody.”
City’s director of football, Txiki Begiristain, praised Haaland’s commitment: “The fact he is signed for so long demonstrates our commitment to him as a player and his love for the club.”
The contract renewal, the longest in Premier League history, surpasses Cole Palmer’s nine-year deal with Chelsea. Haaland’s decision comes just two months after Pep Guardiola signed a two-year contract extension, though the striker’s new deal dismisses speculation about his future being tied to the manager’s tenure.
Haaland has won two Premier League titles, the FA Cup, the Champions League, and the Super Cup with City. This season, he has already scored 21 goals in 28 appearances, despite the defending champions trailing Liverpool by 12 points in the Premier League table.
The renewal comes as City await the outcome of a Premier League disciplinary case. The club denies 115 charges related to alleged financial breaches and faces potential sanctions if found guilty.
