Ecosphere Blue-Green Solutions Trains 146 Residents On Climate Action To Tackle Erosion In Nasarawa

Ecosphere Blue-Green Solutions trains 146 people in Nasarawa on climate-smart agriculture and tree planting to curb erosion.

A non-governmental organisation based in Lafia, Ecosphere Blue-Green Solutions has trained no fewer than 146 persons on climate smart agriculture, agriculture technology, climate advocacy and tree planting to mitigate the challenges of erosion across the 13 local government areas of Nasarawa state.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Organisation, Adamu Alhassan-Hussaini, while addressing participants at a two day capacity building training tagged “Act Now, Get Involved, Join Us in Building Climate Smart Communities through nature based solutions, explained that the essence of the training was to encourage tree planting so as to amilerote the rising challenges associated with erosion and climate change in the state.

Alhassan-Hussaini, however, stated that the capacity building training focuses on Climate Smart Solutions and why it matters has its theme as “Scaling Climate Change Review in Nasarawa State and reform in Attitudinal Approach Towards the Environment.”

According to him, the training targeted at educating the members of the public and private institutions in Nasarawa state to prioritise ways of mitigating challenges of climate change occasioned by erosion through the activities of man that include farming, mining and construction among many others.

He, however, asserted that, to achieve the set result, there was the need of organisations to develop the capacity of people to plant trees where such are cut down to promote afforestation to curtail damages during windstorms.

In a lecture titled “Ethics and Principles for Organisational Development”, Bawa Yahaya Ainaka stressed the need for respect for ethical values in the public and private institutions to enhance their effective operation.

In an interview with some of the participants at the two days capacity building Zainab Umar, Mercy Chinonso-Amaefule and Anyangwa Oyose-Mathew expressed gratitude for being part of the training, affirming that they have learned a lot from it and pleged to put them into practice towards addressing challenges of erosion and climate change in Nasarawa state.

Our correspondent reports that the training which was climaxed with questions and answers session and presentation of certificates brought together participants that include journalists from across some selected print and electronic media in Nasarawa state.
