European Central Bank policymaker Olli Rehn said on Wednesday that wage growth and the wage outlook across the euro zone have remained moderate, with no clear signs of second-round effects.
Rehn, who is also governor of Finland’s central bank, said keeping inflation expectations firmly anchored would be crucial to maintaining this trend.
“Anchoring inflation expectations will be crucial to maintaining this trend,” Rehn said in the written text of a speech.
His remarks come as the ECB continues to monitor wage developments and inflation expectations while assessing the outlook for monetary policy.
The central bank is scheduled to announce its next monetary policy decision on September 10.
