The law firm that represented Sean “Diddy” Combs in his federal criminal case has taken on the defence of a Cornell fraternity member accused in a sexual assault lawsuit.
The Agnifilo firm, founded by Marc Agnifilo and Karen Friedman Agnifilo, has signed on to represent one of the fraternity brothers named in the case, according to sources with direct knowledge.
Teny Geragos, a partner at the firm, is handling the Cornell case. She has previously represented high-profile defendants, including Diddy and Harvey Weinstein.
The firm is also representing Luigi Mangione, who faces a separate murder case in New York.
In the Cornell case, the firm is expected to focus on statements Jane Doe made after the alleged 2024 incident, including her initial description of the sexual activity as consensual.
The legal development comes as the case has returned to the spotlight following the reopening of a criminal investigation into allegations involving seven members of Cornell’s Chi Phi fraternity.
Jane Doe has accused the fraternity members of drugging and sexually assaulting her at the fraternity house in October 2024. The allegations are the subject of a civil lawsuit, and no criminal charges have been filed against the men at this stage.
The Tompkins County District Attorney has said the investigation is being reopened and that the case could be presented to a grand jury.
Jane Doe’s lawyer has disputed the district attorney’s account of her initial report, saying her allegations were detailed in the police report and included claims involving ketamine.
The identities of the fraternity members named in the lawsuit have been made public, while Jane Doe is seeking to remain anonymous.
