Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori celebrates Nduka Obaigbena at 66, calling him a visionary icon and media trailblazer.

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has extended warm congratulations to renowned media entrepreneur and visionary communicator, Prince Nduka Obaigbena, CON, as he marks his 66th birthday.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Governor Oborevwori praised Obaigbena—Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of THISDAY Newspapers and ARISE News—for his transformative contributions to journalism and media in Nigeria and beyond.

Describing him as a trailblazer who revolutionised media practice and elevated the industry’s global standing, Oborevwori hailed Obaigbena as “an iconic figure who redefined the landscape of media enterprise in Nigeria,” adding that he brought “glamour, prestige, and global relevance” to the profession. The governor noted that Obaigbena’s remarkable achievements earned him the fitting title, The Duke of Journalism.

“On behalf of the government and people of Delta State, I warmly congratulate our illustrious son, a global media luminary, Prince Nduka Obaigbena, CON, on his 66th birth anniversary,” the governor stated.

He further acknowledged Obaigbena’s tenure as former President of the Newspaper Proprietors’ Association of Nigeria (NPAN), highlighting his pivotal role in advancing media ownership and press freedom across the country. Oborevwori lauded his institution-building legacy and his bold, innovative spirit that has made a lasting mark on the industry.

“You have built formidable institutions, fostered influential networks across social and political spheres, and become a symbol of audacity and innovation in media entrepreneurship,” he added.

Governor Oborevwori concluded by praying for continued strength, divine guidance, and good health for Prince Obaigbena, wishing him many more years of meaningful contributions to the nation, the African continent, and humanity at large.
