Delta Election Tribunal Affirms Oborevwori’s Victory, Dismisses Omo- Agege’s Petition

The tribunal also held that the issues raised were speculative and lacked merit.

The Delta State governorship election petition tribunal has dismissed the petition filed by the former deputy senate president, Ovie Omo-Agege, challenging the election of Sheriff Oborevwori as governor of the state.

On Friday, a three- member tribunal headed by Chibuzo Ahuchaogu dismissed the petition filed by the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate on the grounds that it lacked merit.

The tribunal also held that the issues raised were speculative since the petitioners failed to prove allegations of non-compliance with the Electoral Act, and corrupt practices beyond a reasonable doubt.

Omo-Agege of the All progressive Congress, who secured a total of 240, 229 votes, lost to Oborevwori of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who got a total of 360, 234 votes in the March 18 governorship election.
