Nigerian music stars Davido and Wande Coal have clashed publicly over their unreleased collaboration, ‘Come My Way’, with both artistes offering different accounts of why the song was never released.
The disagreement followed Davido’s recent interview with Uncut, where he explained that the collaboration was shelved after he and Wande Coal disagreed over the song’s release strategy.
Davido said Wande Coal initially approached him to feature on the track, prompting him to record a verse. However, he said the disagreement arose when Wande Coal planned to release the original song first before subsequently using Davido’s contribution for a remix.
According to Davido, he recorded his verse with the expectation that it would be part of the original collaboration and not a remix.
Wande Coal, however, rejected Davido’s account in a post on X, insisting that ‘Come My Way’ already had a release plan and date before the disagreement.
He tweeted, “Carry song come give you as how? Song wey been get release plan and date!!! Song wey no be your own you wan dictate release plan.”
Wande Coal also dismissed any suggestion that the song’s success depended on Davido’s contribution, writing, “That song fkin did well without you on it bruv!!!”
The exchange subsequently escalated on social media, with both artistes trading personal jabs over the circumstances surrounding the unreleased collaboration.
