Nigerian superstar Davido has been inducted as a voting member of the Recording Academy, the organisation behind the Grammy Awards.
The Academy announced the development on its official Instagram page while spotlighting new members for their “dedication” to music. In a video post featuring Davido alongside other artistes selected for the 2026 edition, the Academy underscored the importance of member participation in the awards process.
“Creating a song or an album takes heart, time, and dedication. That’s why Recording Academy members including @Davido, @ravynlenae, @offsetyrn, @jessiereyez, @zacbrownband, @anneakikomeyers, @miles.minnick, @mayaelizabethmusic, @damiensneed, @damarismusica, and @stewart_copeland are sharing why your participation matters,” the post read.
Reacting to the announcement, Davido described his new role as a “game changer.”
“Understanding the importance of how our voices are heard and participating in the Grammy Award process is a game-changer,” he said.
“I have learned that voting empowers you to have a say in what is considered and voted on each award season. I am honoured to be part of the Recording Academy community, and I look forward to voting.”
As a voting member, Davido will take part in both the nominating stage and the final voting phase that determines the winners of the prestigious awards.
The Recording Academy also confirmed that nominees for the next edition of the Grammys will be announced on November 7, with the ceremony set for February 1, 2026.
Davido has previously earned four Grammy nominations but is yet to secure a win. In 2024, he received nods in the categories of Best Global Music Album, Best African Music Performance, and Best Global Music Performance. He was again nominated in 2025 for Best African Music Performance with his hit track Sensational.
