Court Adjourns Assault Suit Against Odumodublvck To October As Defence Seeks More Time

A Federal High Court in Abuja postpones hearing in the assault suit against rapper Odumodublvck until October.

A Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned until October 13 and 14 the assault and battery suit filed against rapper Tochukwu Ojogwu, popularly known as Odumodublvck, following a request by the defence for more time to prepare its case.

The lawsuit was instituted in November 2025 by Levi Ogbogiri, also known as Kraziecent, who alleged that the rapper assaulted him without provocation during a public event on December 16, 2024.

Ogbogiri claimed that he was peacefully taking photographs and recording videos when the incident occurred. According to him, the alleged attack amounted to assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress and also led to damage to his iPhone 15 Pro Max.

At Tuesday’s resumed hearing before Justice Adeyemi Ajayi, counsel to the claimant, Uchenna Ojembe, told the court that his client, who is the sole witness in the matter, was present and prepared to proceed with the hearing.

However, counsel to the defendant, Damilare Adeojo, sought an adjournment, informing the court that the defence had filed a motion on November 25, 2025, which had already been served on the claimant’s legal team.

Adeojo appealed to the court to grant additional time to enable the defence adequately prepare its case.

Ojembe opposed the application, arguing that the defence had previously obtained several adjournments in the matter.

He urged the court to grant the request only on the condition that a cost of N500,000 be awarded against the defence counsel.

Adeojo, however, rejected the proposed sanction and pleaded with the court to adjourn the matter without imposing any costs.

Justice Ajayi subsequently urged Ojembe to extend professional courtesy to his colleague before granting the application for adjournment.

The judge thereafter fixed October 13 and 14 for the hearing of the suit.

The latest postponement follows an earlier setback in May when proceedings could not go on because of the absence of the defendant’s counsel.

At the time, Ojembe had informed the court that Taiwo Akinsulie, counsel to Odumodublvck, was travelling outside the court’s jurisdiction and would not return until May 31. He had consequently requested that the matter be adjourned to a date in early June.
