Chelsea survived a late Brighton comeback to secure a dramatic 4–3 victory and claim maximum points at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues continued their perfect start to the Premier League season with a thrilling 4–3 victory over Brighton at Stamford Bridge.
The hosts made a fast start and quickly established control of the contest, with Roméo Lavia opening the scoring before Pedro Neto doubled Chelsea’s advantage.
João Pedro then added another for the Blues against his former club, putting Chelsea in a commanding position before the visitors began to respond.
Chelsea appeared to have the game under control when Cole Palmer restored their two-goal advantage with a strike from outside the box.
However, Brighton refused to give up and continued to push forward, with Pascal Groß scoring in stoppage time to reduce the deficit and set up a tense finish.
Chelsea managed to withstand the late pressure and hold on for all three points.
The victory gives Chelsea six points from their opening two league matches, strengthening their position near the top of the Premier League table, while Brighton suffer their first defeat of the campaign.
