Charly Boy : I Have Been Married To One Woman For 48 Years, It’s Very Boring

Veteran singer and media personality Charly Boy says his 48-year marriage is “very boring,” describing long-term relationships as demanding.

Veteran singer and media personality, Charly Boy, has offered a candid reflection on the realities of long-term marriage, admitting that nearly five decades with the same partner can sometimes become repetitive and boring.

Speaking during an interview the entertainer, who has been married for 48 years, said sustaining any marriage requires deliberate effort, patience and proper management.

According to him, no union is exempt from challenges.

“All marriages are management, including my own,” he said.

Charly Boy also revealed that he and his wife have made a conscious decision to keep their marital disagreements private, insisting that involving outsiders often does little to resolve conflicts.

“Me and my wife, we don’t talk to Nigerians about our quarrels. They won’t fix the quarrel.”

Reflecting on the realities of staying with one partner for decades, the self-styled “Area Fada” admitted that familiarity can sometimes strip relationships of excitement.

“I have been married to one woman for 48 years, it is very boring. Imagine eating same Egusi for years, it’s boring now.”

He further noted that despite the monotony that may set in over time, many couples choose stability over the uncertainties that come with seeking new relationships.

“The devil you know is better than the angel you don’t know.”

Charly Boy also cautioned against infidelity, stressing that cheating erodes trust and can destabilise relationships. However, he said he supports the idea of “outsourcing,” a remark likely to generate debate given its controversial undertones.

His comments have since sparked conversations on social media, with many Nigerians weighing in on the realities of long-term commitment, the challenges of maintaining excitement in marriage, and the importance of honesty in discussing relationship experiences.
