Brazilian midfielder Casemiro is set to become the latest high-profile addition to Inter Miami after reaching an agreement to join the Major League Soccer club following the end of his spell at Manchester United.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the deal with his trademark update, stating: “Inter Miami complete deal to sign Casemiro as new midfielder, here we go!”
According to Romano, “Verbal agreement sealed with all parties involved and all formal steps resolved, now waiting to sign and announce the Brazilian.”
The move will see the 34-year-old midfielder link up with Argentine superstar Lionel Messi in Florida after bringing his two-year stay at Manchester United to an end.
Romano further revealed the player’s motivation behind the switch, saying: “Casemiro wants to play with Messi. Future in MLS.”
Casemiro leaves Old Trafford after playing an important role in the club’s campaign, particularly during the closing stages of the season when he helped drive United’s push for qualification to the UEFA Champions League.
Despite his resurgence in form, Manchester United and the midfielder reportedly decided against extending his contract, opening the door for a move abroad.
Inter Miami had emerged as the frontrunners for the former Real Madrid star despite interest from clubs in Italy and Saudi Arabia.
The prospect of playing alongside Messi is understood to have been a decisive factor in Casemiro’s decision, with the Brazilian now poised to begin a new chapter in Major League Soccer once the final paperwork is completed and the transfer is officially announced.
