Jude Bellingham scored twice as England defeated Norway 2-1 after extra time to reach the World Cup semi-finals.
Thomas Tuchel’s side fell behind in the 36th minute when Jordan Pickford misjudged Andreas Schjelderup’s cross-shot, allowing the ball to creep in off the far post.
England hit back in first-half stoppage time. Anthony Gordon found Bellingham, who controlled the ball before firing past Orjan Nyland to level the score.
Norway threatened to regain the lead after the break, but Torbjorn Heggem’s goal was ruled out following a VAR review for a foul by Erling Haaland in the build-up. Kristoffer Ajer also struck the crossbar as England struggled to regain control.
Bellingham settled the contest three minutes into extra time. Nyland spilled Morgan Rogers’ long-range effort and the Real Madrid midfielder reacted first to score his sixth goal of the tournament.
Harry Kane was later denied the chance to extend England’s lead after a penalty awarded for a foul on Djed Spence was overturned following another VAR review.
England held firm in the closing stages to secure a 2-1 victory and advance to Wednesday’s semi-final, where they will face either Argentina or Switzerland.
