PRP National Chairman, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has dismissed allegations of a 69 nomination forms were sold in Kano, insisting the claims are entirely false and politically fabricated against the party.

Speaking in an interview with ARISE NEWS on Tuesday, Baba-Ahmed said the party had already issued clarification through its Kano leadership and insisted that no such incident could have taken place under its structure.

“This is complete fiction. And I am grateful for the opportunity to clarify this. The state chairman, the real state chairman of the PRP in Kano had already stated, released a statement saying this is just complete bankruptcy. There’s no way former governor Kwankwaso would have bought 69 forms from the PRP in Kano. We don’t sell forms in Kano. We sell forms.”

He insisted that the controversy was baseless and contradicted by the party’s official position in Kano. “There’s no way former governor Kwankwaso would have bought 69 forms from the PRP in Kano. We don’t sell forms in Kano. We sell forms.”

Baba-Ahmed said the individual making the allegation is not recognised by the party and has no authority to act in any official capacity.

“The man who spoke and said he had sold 69 forms to Kwankwaso is not known to the party at all. He has no position. He is not in any position. He has no authority to sell any forms.”

He suggested the claims may have been manufactured as part of internal political disagreements within Kano politics. “It is possible that this entire thing has been contrived as part of some problems or some politics in Kano.”

According to Baba-Ahmed, the party had already conducted its primaries and produced candidates long before the controversy emerged. “They registered. They contested. They went through primaries more than a month ago. The candidates have emerged from there.”

He added that the party has remained stable despite external attempts to create confusion around its internal processes. “So we are both amused and, to be quite honest, shocked that somebody could come out of the blue and make these kind of comments.”

Baba-Ahmed also confirmed that discussions had taken place with prominent political figures including Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, but said no formal agreement was reached. “Yes, they did come to our party. We spent some time discussing whether they could come into the party, whether they could join the party. In the end, they decided that there wasn’t enough evidence on the ground that their needs would be met by the party. And they moved on.”

He maintained that the PRP remains united, functional, and focused on preparing for future elections. “PRB has no faction. We came through a very difficult, very time-demanding time, where both from within and from outside, there were efforts to cripple us.”

Baba-Ahmed expressed confidence in the party’s current standing and electoral readiness going forward. “I speak to you now. We’re a very healthy party. We’re looking forward to a very vigorous and very transparent competition.”
