Pop star Ariana Grande has filed a lawsuit against two unidentified hackers, accusing them of stealing dozens of unreleased songs and studio footage before selling the material online.
Court documents filed in Los Angeles allege the hackers targeted the computers and digital accounts of the singer’s collaborators, including producers and photographers, to gain access to unreleased content spanning several years.
According to the lawsuit, “In 2023 alone, 45 unreleased songs belonging to Ms Grande were hacked, stolen, and leaked. Since her music debut in 2011, hundreds of similar leaks have taken place.”
Grande’s legal team said the action is aimed at identifying those responsible for the alleged cyberattacks and holding them accountable for what they described as repeated invasions of her privacy and career.
The lawsuit claims that in 2025, the hackers accessed the mobile device of one of Grande’s producers and obtained unreleased masters, demo recordings and footage from studio sessions. It also alleges that in 2024 they impersonated a photographer through a fake email account to obtain unreleased photographs belonging to the singer.
Grande has previously condemned those responsible for leaking her music. Speaking during an interview on the Zach Sang Show in 2024, she reacted to the unauthorised release of her song Fantasize, saying: “I’ll see you in jail. Literally, these pirates, crooks, illegal!”
The lawsuit accuses the defendants of invasion of privacy, violating California’s computer hacking laws and unlawfully converting her intellectual property.
Her lawyers argued that “the malicious invasion of Ms. Grande’s privacy and disruption of her career have caused her substantial and irreparable harm due to this breach of privacy.”
The legal action comes as Grande prepares to release her eighth studio album, Petal, this week, while continuing her world tour, which is scheduled to reach the UK in August.
