A large billboard in New York City has drawn attention after displaying a message about killings of Christians in Nigeria, with images placed beside the text.
The billboard carries the words “END THE CHRISTIAN GENOCIDE IN NIGERIA.” It shows a burning church and a woman holding a child. The display also states it was paid for by Across Nigeria, a group founded by Brad Brandon.
Footage from the location shows the billboard mounted above shops, where it is clearly visible at night. The images used on the board match those on the group’s website, which presents the same visuals and message on its landing page.
Details on the website say the organisation operates in parts of Nigeria and focuses on outreach work. It states that Brandon has a background in pastoral ministry and media, and has been involved in work in parts of West Africa.
The site also says the group provides education support in some communities and aid to others. It adds that its work includes areas described as high-risk, where people face security challenges.
The message on the billboard has led to discussion online, with users sharing different views about the claim and the issue it raises. Some posts question the wording on the display, while others point to wider concerns about security in parts of Nigeria.
The billboard adds to ongoing conversations about how Nigeria is portrayed abroad, as groups and individuals continue to use public platforms to highlight issues they believe need attention.
