Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno Dumps PDP for APC, Seeks Alignment with Federal Government

Governor Umo Eno has defected from PDP to APC, saying the move will help Akwa Ibom benefit from the federal government.

In a surprising political shift, Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Governor Eno announced the move after concluding a series of consultations, describing it as a progressive step. He expressed gratitude to the PDP for its support during his tenure but said his decision was motivated by a desire to align Akwa Ibom State with the federal government for continued benefits.

He noted his admiration for President Bola Tinubu and stated that the state stood to gain more from federal programmes by being politically aligned with the centre.

Despite the defection, the governor assured residents that he would continue to work tirelessly for their welfare, regardless of political affiliations.
