Aiyedatiwa’s 100 Days in Office Has Demonstrated His Capacity To Turn Ondo Around, Group Tells Tinubu

Aiyedatiwa was sworn-in as governor of Ondo State December 2023 after the demise of the immediate past Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu.

A group, Itesiwaju Political Group in Ondo State on Monday called on President Bola Tinubu to see the giant strides of the state governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa within 100 days in office as a demonstrated capacity and capability to turn the state around if given the opportunity in forthcoming governorship election in the state.

Aiyedatiwa was sworn-in as the governor of the coastal state on December 27, 2023 after the demise of the immediate past Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu who died after a protracted illness in Germany.

The incumbent governor is one of the 16 aspirants for the ruling All Progressives Congress who had picked the expression of interest and nomination forms ahead of the April 20 governorship primary to elect a standard-bearer for the November 16 governorship election.

However, Itesiwaju Political Group in an open letter to President Tinubu signed by its coordinator,  Haruna Jamiu Adesina, said with Aiyedatiwa’s 100 days in office, the people of the Sunshine State have felt the positive impacts of his administration, hence the need for him to be given a chance to continue in 2025.

According to the ground, in February, the Governor approved the release of employment letters to 165 newly recruited staff of the Ondo State Internal Revenue Service (ODIRS) and about 100 health workers were also recruited by the Civil Service Commission while the process is currently ongoing to recruit additional 600 health workers.

“Your Excellency, Ondo State Governor, Hon Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa is 100% ready to carry out the peoples directives with focus and he has demonstrated it within his fist 100 days in office as he has paid N1.5 billion gratuity to the retirees in the state, awarded N220 million loans to traders and artisans, given approvals for the immediate recruitment of 2000 teachers into public schools and 650 health workers to fill the vacancies in both educational and health sectors .

“Between December 27th , 2023 when he was sworn in him as our Governor in Ondo State and now, he has awarded 60km roads across the state and also committed over N3.4 billion for the construction of rural roads across the state and in order to keep the good legacies of the late former Governor of Ondo State going, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa ordered contractors handling all the road projects across the state to immediately return to sites for the prompt completion of all the ongoing road projects in Ondo State and thank God today, residents of the state are extremely happy with the quality and speed in the road constructions across the state.”

The group emphasised that governor Aiyedatiwa is the most prepared and qualified amongst the aspirants vying for the position.

“I want to appeal to you not to listen to some pessimists and unscrupulous politicians from Ondo State who don’t have any good plans for the development of the state but how to  impose someone who will open the doors of our treasury for them to loot.”
