Air Peace Boosts Fleet With Boeing 737-800 To Expand Domestic, Regional Capacity

Air Peace has taken delivery of a Boeing 737-800 aircraft to expand capacity and improve regional connectivity further.

West and Central Africa’s largest carrier, Air Peace, has strengthened its fleet with the acquisition of another Boeing 737-800 Next Generation aircraft, in a move aimed at expanding capacity, improving efficiency, and meeting rising passenger demand across its domestic and regional routes.

The aircraft, registered as 5N-CGD, landed at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on Sunday, May 24, 2026, marking another milestone in the airline’s ongoing fleet expansion and modernisation programme.

Configured with 189 Economy Class seats, the Boeing 737-800 NG is expected to enhance operational flexibility and passenger experience, with a cabin layout designed for comfort, improved overhead storage space, and advanced avionics systems. The aircraft is also equipped with modern safety technology and fuel-efficient engines, widely regarded as among the most reliable in the narrow-body category.

Speaking on the latest addition, Air Peace said the acquisition underscores its commitment to scaling operations in line with growing demand while maintaining efficiency and service quality.

“The addition of the Boeing 737-800 NG to our fleet is a strategic step that reflects our commitment to providing increased capacity, improved reliability, and enhanced passenger comfort across our network,” the airline said.

It added that the aircraft would play a key role in strengthening its route network and operational resilience.

“This aircraft will significantly improve our scheduling flexibility and allow us to better serve both domestic and regional destinations while maintaining the high standards our passengers expect,” the airline added.

Beyond passenger experience, the airline noted that the fuel-efficient design of the Boeing 737-800 NG supports its sustainability and cost-efficiency goals, reducing operating costs while also lowering carbon emissions in line with global aviation standards.

Industry observers note that the aircraft’s versatility will enable Air Peace to optimise route deployment, improve frequency on high-demand routes, and enhance overall network connectivity.

For passengers, the arrival of 5N-CGD translates into increased seat availability, improved connectivity, and greater travel options across key destinations in Nigeria and West Africa.

Air Peace continues to operate one of the most diverse fleets on the African continent, including Boeing 777s, Boeing 737 variants, Embraer aircraft, Dornier jets, and Airbus helicopters, serving a wide range of domestic, regional, and international routes.

With this latest addition, the airline says it is further consolidating its long-term vision of building a stronger aviation hub in Nigeria, while deepening connectivity across Africa and beyond.
